A few notes about what is happening with our Aspire teams…..

1. Due to our fundraising efforts over the last year, the APSG will be paying for all athletes to go to Sunsplash on July 19th.  Please see your coaches for more information.  Cheer, T&T, Boy’s and Girls teams are all invited.

2. The Grand Canyon State Games was a great success.  Even with more gymnasts than we expected, it went pretty well and we all had a good time.  Our parent and athlete volunteers stepped up HUGE in helping with setup, cleanup, concessions, raffle, etc..  Thanks so much to all who helped, and thanks to Scott and Dona for donating the use of their facility.  If you came to help and I couldn’t find a spot for you, thanks for trying and there will be plenty of opportunities in the future.  Though all of the registration proceeds went to the GCSG, we were able, through the efforts of Lynn Nguyen and her helpers at the concession stand, and Lori Clark, and her helpers with the raffle, to make about a $500 profit!  Special thanks to Theresa Babbington for making the cool baskets for our raffle, she did an outstanding job.

3. The beginnings of the Golf Tournament Fundraising Committee had an excellent meeting and we are off and running.  We are putting together a plan to host a golf tournament sometime in  the spring.  We expect all teams to participate and share in the proceeds.  More info to follow, but if you want to get involved now contact Carlos Flys at carlos@onewaygc.com .  Carlos is the committee head and has already done an excellent job of getting us started.

4. Expect full team meetings later in the month where we will talk about the upcoming season.  Also, we still need nominations for all board positions, as we will be voting during these team meetings.  Please consider joining the board.  We have nominations for all positions except Secretary, but you can still run for any position.

Thanks,

Greg Autrey

APSG President

NEW ASPIRE PSG BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED!
Would you like to get more involved?  We need to fill the empty board positions of
Vice-President and Secretary, though all positions are up for re-election. To date, Greg Autrey has not received a single response about this.  We must fill these positions.  It is a big commitment, and a lot of work, and an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our young athletes!  If you are interested, please contact Greg Autrey as soon as possible!

BOYS’ TEAM REPRESENTATIVES NEEDED FOR COMMITTEES
To increase communication, ensure representation and to expand participation, the Board has asked a representative from each team to participate on each Board Committee.  If your schedule or responsibilities make it difficult for you to volunteer at the meets, this may be an excellent way to contribute!  Currently, a representative from the Boys’ Team is needed on the following committees:
  • Golf Tournament (Exploratory Committee)
  • Fundraising
  • Concessions
  • Meet Committee

The Board may also be organizing a Community Service/Charity Committee.  Please contact:
Theresa Babington
480-620-8105
to help form this new committee.

If you are interested in serving as the Boys’ Team Representative on any of the committees, please contact the committee chair or Greg Autrey for more information.  Once you have officially become a committee member, please let me know as well.  Thank you!

GOLF TOURNAMENT PLANNING
Led by team parents Carlos Flys and his wife, and with support from Theresa Babington, the Aspire PSG would like to organize a fund-raising golf tournament next spring!  This one event could possibly raise as much as $5,000 to $9,000 for the Aspire PSG and be a lot of fun!  At this point, planners project that the event would be successful if each athlete could recruit just one golfer to be in the tournament.  It would be great if some companies would sponsor a hole and/or a foursome.  This is an exciting opportunity and there is a lot of energy behind it!  Please consider helping plan this event by serving on this committee.  Contact:
Carlos Flys
480-254-4000
to serve on this Golf Tournament Exploratory committee!

JULY 2nd BOARD MEETING–NEED REP FROM BOYS’ TEAM
Are you available on Monday July 2, at 5:30 p.m.?  This will be an Aspire PSG Board Meeting.  I (Heidi) will be out-of-town.  We need someone to attend the meeting and take notes.  Please let me know if you are interested.

Thank you!
