Aspire Parent Support Group

We’re getting ready to start the new APSG website.  This new site will actually be a collection of sites for Parents, the Teams (Boys, Girls, T & T), Volunteers, and Fundraising, as well as new things as they come up.  Please pop over to the new site, take a look, and tell me what you think.  The new site address is http;//parents.aspirepsg.org.

The goal of the new site is to allow us to post more information faster, making it easier for the teams to get their information into the hands of people who need it.  We’re including the APSG Calendar of events, and the sites include easy to use links to subscribe to the blogs.

If you have any comments, feel free to let me know.  I’d love to hear suggestions on look-and-feel or additional information you’d like to see.  Keep in mind, these sites are intended to be dynamic, so expect changes… and keep coming back to see what’s new.

APSG Families,
Hopefully everyone is now back into the routine with school and gymnastics practice.  All our teams have had their team orientation, so be sure to have all your paperwork turned in so your athlete doesn’t miss out on any of the events.  Be sure to mark your calendars with your teams’ monthly meetings that the coaches host.  These meetings are filled with great information with regards to how the season is going.

Quick Reminder

The All Teams Swim Party is THIS Sunday, Aug. 28th from 5:30-7:30pm at the West Chandler Aquatic Center on Kyrene.  The APSG will provide water and otter pops, feel free to bring a dessert or treats to share.  Be sure to RSVP, if you haven’t already done so, we want an accurate head count. J  Remember this is for all teams and their families.

Volunteer opportunities

Be on the lookout, we have several events being hosted by Aspire and we will be in need of volunteers.

The Girls Team hosts the Jammie Jam on Sept. 17th (sign ups will be posted soon).                                       The Boys Team hosts the Strength Meet on Oct. 15th (sign ups will happen about 2 wks. before event).     In Nov. the Girls Level 4 State Meet will be hosted by Aspire (details to come).

We are having a 50/50 raffle that the APSG will be kicking off at the swim party and continuing throughout the following week.  We need volunteers to help solicit the general public, that enters Aspire during the day, in the 50/50 raffle. If you would be able to give us even an hour of your time to do this solicitation we would really appreciate your help.  Please contact Staci Smith at stacilynnsmith@aol.com (this is strictly a volunteer opportunity, no credit will be given).  Our goal with the 50/50 raffle is to raise money to help cover the cost of raffle items/baskets that are offered at the meets we host.  We are trying to avoid asking team parents, yet again, to donate more items for these baskets; so your help would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Aspire Team Families,

Plans are underway to kick off our holiday Gold Canyon candle fundraiser.  The first step is to get a head count of who is interested in selling so I can order the correct number of packets.

If you haven’t participated in this in the past I encourage you to give it a try. Gold Canyon provides us with rub ‘n sniff brochures that you can take to work, show to neighbors, friends, family members, etc. These candles are only available through home parties or through fundraisers, so people like to stock up when they get the chance, especially with the holidays approaching.

You will earn a generous 40% profit on your sales ($8.80/26oz, $7.40/16oz, $5.80/8oz).  This is an individual fundraiser, which means that you can apply the profit earned directly to your APSG team account.

If you’re interested in selling candles, please send an email to Lori Clark BY NEXT FRIDAY, SEPT 2nd, with the following information:

Your name
Gymnast’s name (including last name if different from yours)
Team (boys, girls, T&T)
Request for more than one packet if you think you’ll need it

We will be sizing the boys for uniforms soon!! Those that are returning gymnasts I need you to try EVERYTHING on, if something is too small and you would like to try and sell them please do the following:

place in zip lock bag with name and size
if you are selling only shorts please write shorts…only pants write size and pants…if there are two things please write item name and than size for me
how long you have had that uniform/warm-up
bring upstairs and give to Paula (she will know what to do with them)
Need to be in by August 30th

Had some automated process add Spam comments to a couple of the last posts.  My apologies if you received a bunch of e-mails for products that you weren’t interested in.  I have added a moderator to the blog, so you should no longer get these types of messages from APSG.

Been a bit tardy posting these, but we’re now current.  See what we did in May 2011

Fry’s credits have been processed!  Each athlete participating in our Fry’s fundraising program received an account credit of $102 today!!  The contribution from Fry’s was $5,916 for this period.  Thanks for everyone who participated.  To those of you who did not participate –it’s never too late to join.  It’s like getting free money into your account.  All you have to do is buy groceries!

Congratulations to our top earners by team!!  They will each receive an additional share of $102.
